Pure Intruders

Coffeehouse / Chillwave / Indie Pop

Independently released Pure Intruders’ No Hard Feelings is fifteen minutes of introspective gold. The Chicago/ Atlanta-based trio is Madeline Julia Smith, Brandon Suarez, and Jonathan Noel, Pure Intruders formed “in the peak of 2020 Quarantine” (winter 2020); they self-describe their music as “bringing to life the sounds of isolation and contemplation,” and cite “70s Disco infused with modern indie pop” as some of their inspirations. The band’s 2021 EP are four deeply resonant, gorgeously arranged tunes. In their single release in 2022, “Just Like Everybody Else”, Suarez’s floaty synths and swelling keyboard work are reminiscent of Seventies disco gems. The percussion is smooth and seductive. Smith’s evocative vocals and lyrical gifts bring a lot of subtle emotion to the song and it’s gently inviting. Recent release “Just Like Everybody Else” is a vibrant and colorful warm slice of indie pop and groovy instrumentation that has a more 80s feel, infused with a modern polish.
